What's the point of this pack?

In case you're unfamiliar, map completion (also referred to as world completion) is fully exploring maps. That is, completing all hearts, waypoints, vistas, points of interest, and hero points in a map. The reason for this is typically for the end reward -- Black Lion Keys, Transmutation Charges, Gifts of Exploration and other various goodies. Some of these items are a vital component to make legendary weapons and are often what prevents players from getting them. For the majority of people, map completion is a huge undertaking that can take a lot of in-game time to complete.

The purpose of this pack is to cut down that completion time significantly, guiding players on their map completion journey, leading them from one point to another, giving helpful tips along the way to make the process as fast and smooth as possible. A plethora of markers and trails are used to tell the player where they should be and what they should be doing to complete their task the fastest.

Why should I use this pack?

The answer is simple: speed. There are many other packs or tools for map completion, but I assure you they pale in comparison to how fast this pack is. I am personally a map comp speedrunner and I've worked for hundreds of hours with other speedrunners to find the most efficient routing and tricks as possible. We make use of all the tools provided to speed up the run: Mounts, gliding, mount masteries, waypoints, heart zones and markers, advanced movement tech, even some cool interaction tricks at hearts. All of this is compiled into one pack with one goal: be the fastest map completion tool out there. Currently, the Core Tyria map completion world record of 8 hours 59 minutes is held by one of the pack contributors, zotmer, and uses this pack as it's guide. That's all 303 hearts, 189 hero points, 486 waypoints, 226 vistas and 653 points of interest in core tyria in under nine hours.

Pack Features

  • Over 5,000 markers individually placed to guide the player
    • Route markers for all Waypoints, Points of Interest, Vistas, and Hero Points (optional) so players don't miss them
    • Waypoint markers to easily show players what waypoint to teleport to
    • Empty and Full Heart markers to signify where players should start hearts and have them completed before moving on
    • Heart markers to guide players to complete hearts in the fastest way possible
    • Short descriptions at empty heart markers to make sure players understand what to be doing
    • Mount markers to guide players whenever a mount change is necessary
  • Multi-colored trails to follow depending on the player's preferences, including:
    • The main trail that goes to all Waypoints, Points of Interest, Vistas, and Hearts
      • Alternate colors for the main trail, so the user can choose which color they prefer.
    • Heart zones that mark "hotspots" for completing hearts
    • Optional hero point trails for those who can't buy hero points from WvW
    • Mount specific trails for players that have access to some of the more exclusive mounts (Skyscale)
    • A 'trail of shame' to follow in case you mess up some of the harder tricks. (You'll get it next time!)
  • Hand-Tweaked Visibility Settings
    • Each marker and trail have had their visibilities tweaked so they are clearly visible but don't clutter the player's screen or maps
    • Starting points and Waypoint Markers clearly displayed on the map for the player
    • The route is displayed on the map in a way that allows players to see it but it doesn't obscure too much of the map
    • View the starting waypoint of all core Tyria maps from the world map in either Lion's Arch or Mistlock Sanctuary
  • Customization and Toggleability
    • Easily toggle on and off the entire pack, heart trails and markers or hero point trails and markers depending on player preferences.
    • Further broken down categories if players want to tweak what markers and trails are shown to a greater detail
