I was going through register to vote recently and stumbled on this question. I read the header text and was about to check the box, but then started reading the checkbox text and suddenly felt confused and lost confidence. It took me a couple of intentional re-reads to be sure that checking the box was the right thing because the header is “Do you want […]” and then the checkbox text starts “I do not want […]”
Does this strike anyone else as confusing or was I just having a moment? 🙃 I felt like I was on some dark pattern site that was trying to make it unclear what the right thing to do was in a way that no other gov site has made me feel 😂
