I just want to update that they have an up-to-date repo for cleaning up rancher. I was able to run it without hiccups https://github.com/rancher/rancher-cleanup

Thanks a lot for this, rancher finalizers are really a pain.
I've created a more verbose version of this using fish: https://gist.github.com/davidfrickert/c74702c383890f392e7b0a0095cf626a
It logs the previous and new state of finalizers so you can inspect what changes the script will do before removing the dry-run.
