Thank you for your speedy response ! I expect to find the affiliation (i.e research center or institutes) associated with the usegalaxy.cn, but there is nothing there. The only thing that I found is 简说基因, so I am not sure if the usegalaxy.cn hosted and maintained by a private group or a research lab. THanks

As far as I know, it is hosted and maintained by a private group. Here is its contact information: contact@usegalaxy.cn. You can communicate directly with them. I know the person in charge, and he is a very nice person.

Thank you for the info ! It also seems to me that usegalaxy.cn is operating through an indepedent group. That's also great to know you know the person in charge. Based on what I heard from the Galaxy Project Community, they would like to know more about the usegalaxy.cn plan especially on the use of "usegalaxy" domain name. Currently, there are only 3 main galaxy instannces in operation (i.e usegalaxy.org, usegalaxy.eu and usegalaxy.org.au).

Thanks, Steven! You've been very helpful and sharing Jianzuoyi github repo. He won't have any idea about our conversation unless he is tagged. I just realized he is from Chengdu. What a coincidence, I am visiting Chengdu next week.

Hi @mthang , I'm glad you've noticed usegalaxy.cn. This instance was established last year and is operating by several young people who are interested in Galaxy. It is currently not affiliated with any organization(i.e research center or institutes).

Currently, the instance is facing two major problems：Technical & No funding support.

Technical issues, such as:

The default UI of Galaxy is in English, but many Chinese users have poor English, which severely affects their experience using the platform. Therefore, over the past year, we have done a lot of localization work to lower the barrier for Chinese users

Recently, we are preparing to submit our localization work to the GitHub repo of Galaxy Project.

Our plan is to make the wonderful Galaxy project better assist Chinese users in their scientific research. If this instance gains enough users, perhaps we can seek funding support then.

@jianzuoyi , Thank you for the clarification ! I am glad to hear that Galaxy has users who are interested in running the Galaxy instance in China. As what you've experieced, funding is an issue to run Galaxy instance as well as unexpected technical challenges. Based on what I know, Galaxy europe is supported and maintained by a lot of researchers and bioinformatician. In addition, the contributors of Galaxy requires ongoing funding to sustain.

I am happy to hear that you are working on the localization and prepare to submit it to the github repo. Have you contacted and in some sort of communication with the Galaxy project people regarding the localization work yet.

I also wonder how localization work of Galaxy work because most not all of the tools name on Galaxy are developed in English and the publication as well. What's your plan to align the tool name (i.e localization of the tool name - chinese) to the tool name on publication?
