Installer
The old webERP installer was slow, and contained some functionality that users found frustrating. I have rewritten this from scratch. On entering the installer you see this screen.
Choose the default language here. If you don't select one, it will default to English. Clicking on the "Next" button takes you to the next screen
Here you can read the GPLv2 license that webERP is released under. You must tick the box to say you have read and understood it, before you are allowed to move on. When you have done this you are taken to the next screen
This screen performs some system checks that must be passed before you can move on. If all is OK, click "Next" to move on to the next screen
Here you enter the database details. Once you have entered you must click the button to test the connection. You can only move on when the connection works - you will be notified on screen that the connection works. One you get that message, click "Next" to move on.
This screen contains the admin user account details. You can chenge the name, and password of this account. It defaults to admin/weberp. You need to click the button to save the details before you can move on. (This needs to be improved on as it should all occur in one action). Clicking "Next" takes you to the final configuration screen.
The company name should be the full name of the company, which will be shown in several places within webERP. You can then select a chart of accounts to deploy. There are some user donated charts here, but it would be great if more people donated charts for their locales. This will be ignored if you opt to install demo data below. The installer will perform a best guess for your locale, but if it doesn't manage it, you can set your own locale here. You can then select your company logo. The logo must be in jpg or png format, and will be shown with a height of 32px, but the width can vary. If no logo is chosen the default weberp logo will be installed for you. Finally you can choose to install the demo data. Choose this if you are evaluating webERP for your organisation. Once you have chosen the options you can proceed to install the system.
The system will update you with what has happened, and then prompt you to restart webERP, and you are good to go, using the login provided earlier.
Please note, this is an installer, not an implementer. It will install the software on your system, and get it into a state where you can log in. How webERP is configured will vary depending on your local tax system, the kind of organisation you are, what the organisation does and other things as well.
