Can I hit an endpoint from slate?

I just want to make a simple HTTP request and display the response as a table, so that I don't need to fill in the values manually.

How can possibly do this?

There's no built-in feature of Slate to do this, nor would there likely to be one. My suggestion for two avenues to approach this would be:

1. Write a custom Middleman helper and then use that within your layout, and so the content would be injected at build time
2. Write custom JS code that is executed on page load and does the necessary DOM manipulation to inject the content. You can write HTML into your markdown to give you the right landmarks to make the DOM manipulation easier.
