Am a newbie any reference how to deploy the Slate on Github Pages.

Assuming you're working from a fork of slate, I would suggest looking at our own Github Pages deploy github workflow as a good example of how to do it: https://github.com/slatedocs/slate/blob/7c288d9756c52e3f4a2afbf803fce84740a5db37/.github/workflows/deploy.yml.

It's setup such that any time we push to main (or master potentially in your case), we run this workflow which setup Ruby, install the necessary gems, build the docs, and then use the peaceiris/actions-gh-page action to publish the folder.
