Ubuntu 20.04 LTS makes usbmount available through their official repositories (see usbmount package on focal. However, from that point onward Ubuntu ceased to distribute usbmount. Does anyone know what happened?

Apparently Debian decided to stop distributing usbmount because the project is dead and Debian classifies the project as RC buggy since 2014.

Ubuntu just repackages Debian, thus if Debian removes a package, so does Ubuntu.

And therefore usbmount and automounting in general has been removed from the Ubuntu Server distro, at least as of 24.04. If this project is "dead" is there an alternative or has this moved?
