Fullscreen RefactorDefine what ‘fullscreen’ means to raylib and refactor the current API to match that definition. Also add specific functions to change display resolution. Evaluate ways to have consistent behavior with minimal API changes. Posted 11-18-24 Font Rendering RefactorStore glyphs in ranges for faster lookup. In my testing SUPPORT_UNORDERED_CHARSET is one to two times slower than a straight lookup. We can do better than brute force lookups every glyph. I have experience in using multiAPI frameworks, I reckon you might be able to add a preprocessor in each file that includes raylib, for example, #define RAYLIB_USE_VULKAN #define RAYLIB_USE_DEFAULT I believe that you might be able to do something similar as to how BGFX implmented it, they did it automatically but it's still worth looking at. |

Vulkan support can be achieved with Mesa's Zink library (up to OGL 4.6) or Google's ANGLE (GLES2). Having written some Vulkan stuff, I'm not sure it makes sense. It'd be a pretty big rewrite for what's not a guaranteed increase in performance (theoretically it can be but you're basically writing a bunch of stuff that OpenGL drivers do yourself). |

I would like to see rAudio get the same kind of platform treatment that rCore did, so that it would be possible to drop in different audio backends, with miniaudio as the default if you don't specify one. |

Any chance we can just get ANGLE as a backend option, or maybe as a separate option entirely to complement OpenGL ES? I know there's already some discussion over here and there's also a Medium post of someone linking ANGLE on MacOS to run with Metal and getting massive improvements to graphical performance. |

Imagine you enter a shop in an rpg, and there is an animated 2d video, usually short (2-5 seconds) and perfectly looped. I'm not even sure what video format / OpenGL feature they usually use (if there is one), but it would be good to have one exposed in RayLib. |

For hierarchical transformations, wouldn’t it be better to do it via the For example, using a nullable pointer to the parent transformation. Well, if it were to be used internally, unless implementing real scene management, recalculating the hierarchy for each call to 'DrawModel' without any system to prevent redundant calculations would be far from perfect. Indeed, a In my opinion, raylib shouldn’t do it for you because it would probably do it in a way that could be unpleasant and restrictive in the long run. That’s just my opinion, but if a 3D scene management system were to be added to raylib, it should be optional, so it doesn't annoy those who might want to do it differently. |

I understand that a full blown scene management system would be a bit out of scope for Raylib. But since Raylib already has a type for Transforms and by extension; Quaternions, I'm a bit confused as to why they aren't more widely used outside of Raylib's internal program architecture. So the idea would be:
For the last point about quaternions, I agree that it would be better in itself, but Euler angles and vector-based ones are much easier to understand and work with directly for beginners, which is also the goal of raylib. Honestly, I couldn't take a stance on this, each approach has its pros and cons, although I would probably favor quaternions as well. Edit: I'm thinking about it, but raylib generally follows a copy-based approach in many cases. This can lead to less careful management of the lifespan of the data being used. Therefore, the use of pointers in Transform should be approached with caution. |

Neither of these are really "technical" challenges but rather questions of build system integration. Neither SDL or angle have simple enough build systems to really make this feasible or worthwhile. And I'd object to making these defaults. If you want these things, probably SDL itself and SDL_gpu are what you are after |

Forcing desktop to use the OpenGLES API would be a huge step backwards, and would make raylib way worse. that and the aforementioned increase in build quality for minimal benefit make this an undesirable option. Developers targeting IOS should be able to build with the SDL backend, they already have to deal with the xcode signing process another complex build process. |

Many windows users and linux users are missing out on peformance due to it being hardstuck on OpenGL 3.3, would it be possible to make 4.3 or 4.6 the default? other than that, you have to include rlgl.h and #define OPENGL_VERSION_43. otherwise it just uses version 3.3... I'd also like to request some sort of vulkan support, not through ANGLE or any other emulation backends, I reckon it might be possible to do it natively. As long as the user defines that they're using vulkan rather than opengl and defines the version, it can tell all the headers to work with vulkan. Look through glad.c as a certain example as how glad works in line with vulkan. glad.c has a lot of documentation on this. |

This is literally how rlgl works now. 3.3 is the default for extended hardware support, a decent range of lower end integrated GPUs do not support 4.3. Defaulting to 4.3 would reduce the number of people that can use Raylib in it's default configuration. Raylib is not 'hardstuck' on 3.3, raylib can build for 4.3 just use the define that exists. Just define GRAPHICS_API_OPENGL_43 and get 4.3 support, it's easy to do. Raylib has no features that use 4.6 and using a higher version is not 'more performance', so your statement does not make much sense. You also have full access to OpenGL alongside raylib, you are not locked out of using OpenGL for advanced use cases. What GL 4.6 feature do you need to use or you feel that the average/new raylib user is 'missing out on'? Most of the features are advanced and the user should be fine changing the OpenGL target version. |

Is there a way to bind multiple materials to a mesh and specify material and UV coordinates for each of the triangles? It would be good to have this in RayLib. (I know about texture atlas approach and utilize it, but it's not always convenient with mipmap) |

Post-processing effects like the Doppler effect are clearly out of raylib’s scope. I quickly wrote a gist for audio positioning if you want to check it out: For the Doppler effect, you should be able to do it based on the relative speed of the object and the pitch of the sound. The easiest way, if you really need all of this, would be to not compile |

I'm not sure if this is implemented already, but adding material names to be imported in the Material struct when importing GLTF. This would be useful for matching custom shaders with a material for example. |

Also, while Raylib doesn't support or plan on supporting other types of materials than default PBR met/rgh flow, could a possible alternative be to allow any arbitrary material data beyond the GLTF specification to be loaded, so users could implement these materials in their projects by themselves instead of Raylib having to implement them? |

raylib is widely used in academic world, to teach new students graphics programming basics but also to generate demos or academic research visualizations. I want to focus efforts on knowing more about that kind of uses, where I think raylib has a great expansion potential.

I draft a new design a while ago, keeping the minimalist style but a bit more aligned with nowadays standards.
