Need to consider switching to the standart DNN ImageHandler https://www.dnnsoftware.com/community-blog/cid/155618/dnn-imagehandler , possibly with extensions: https://github.com/weggetor/BBImageHandler-8 or custom-made extension.

Identify all uses of R7.ImageHandler in the R7 projects
Switch to DNN ImageHandler in all simple cases (most used transform is width-based resize)
Package BBImageHandler-8 as DNN library to simplify install and declare dependencies via manifest
Implement fileticket mode extension (as part of BBImageHandler-8 or separate project)

Another option to consider is switching to ImageResizer (https://imageresizing.net/plugins/editions/free, https://github.com/imazen/resizer). It have PDF thumbnailer, but lacks Barcode/QRcode renderers.
