Yeah I realised only after I wrote that my go-to translation plugin is no longer maintained for a long time now.
Even if I manage to make the site work there is no guarantee the site won't break for the customer in the next year.

I already uninstalled qtranslate and moved to polylang.

I guess this is what happens when a plugin gets a lot of traction (hence a lot of need for support) but there is no compensation for the author. Both Polylang and Wpml rely on their premium up-sale or are outright commercial, so this ensures a highly motivated team behind them.

Fixed in qTranslate-XT 3.5.0.
