My new node was synchronizing fine for 3 days. But now, with two years of node data to go, I can no longer start up synchronization. Below is the response I get:

The default path for linux is /home/USERNAME/.pocketcoin

In my .pocketcoin folder are the directories:
blocks chainstate checkpoints database pocketdb wwwroot

The directories: "checkpoints", and "wwwroot", are empty.

In the "blocks" directory are many numbered blk*.dat files, and in it's "index" subdirectory, many numbered *.ldb files.

In the "chainstate" directory are many numbered *.ldb files.

In the "database" directory the only file is: "log.0000000001"

In the "pocketdb" directory are many files with "sqlite3" in their names

In the ".pocketcoin/" root are the files:
banlist.dat db.log debug.log fee_estimates.dat mempool.dat peers.dat pocketcoind.pid settings.json wallet.dat

Which of the above files should be deleted? I can surmise for example *.ldb files would be deleted, and anything in the "pocketdb" directory not. But I am concerned I will eventually guess wrong and corrupt something.

Important files that cannot be recovered are:

• file wallet.dat in root directory
• directory wallets if exists
• file pocketcoin.conf contains your configuration options

All other files and directories have no value.

Thank you for your reply. I should have read the snapshot download documents sooner. In them are the directories that should be deleted. I have it downloaded.

Included in the download is the file "pocketcoin.conf.example". I copied this to the filename "pocketcoin.conf", and added your recommended "stakingrequirespeers=1" line to it.

I now have a pocketcoin node running on my computer.

My concern now is automated node shutdown when my computer is shutdown. I created a service to shutdown the node based on the instructions at: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1449198/running-a-script-at-shutdown-before-networking-goes-down . I verified the shutdown service script does execute during computer shutdown using the time stamp as described in that article. I am concerned though, because when I shutdown the node it takes about half a minute, and the message appears not to shutdown the clean shutdown process before it is done, and when I shutdown the computer it does not wait for a clean shutdown to complete. Is there a node shutdown command that will block script execution until it completes?

Is there a command that can be used to determine whether shutdown has completed that a script can use to spin in a polling loop until completion is indicated?

Is there another way to block, and postpone computer shutdown until the node shutdown completes?

I understood your question - in theory, of course, you can ask in a loop if there is a running process, something like: ps aux | grep pocketcoind

I can also recommend using docker, which waits for the container to stop when it is turned off.
