Figured I would post this here for community visibility.
If you have static IP addresses you can actually use the network address and broadcast address as normal addresses.
Example:
You are assigned a 'static IP-block' of X.X.X.160/29. Normally (without OPNSense) you would be able to use X.X.X.161-X.X.X.165. X.X.X.166 would be reserved as the gateway IP, the network identifier address is X.X.X.160 and the broadcast address is X.X.X.167. Your ATT gateway treats this range of IP addresses as a /29 but ATT hasn't actually segmented them that way.
With OPNSense you can use all 8 IPs by setting them as Virtual IPs with a /32.
