Today, @mdecimus announced on the Matrix room that community support would only go through Github or Discord. The Matrix room was made invite-only and the 87 people there left alone without agency. A number of these people, including paying customers, are not willing to follow on Discord nor contribute to Github.
This poll reflects the poll @hellekin started there, with [bracketed changes] to bring context there to the discussion here. Managing a free software community is hard, and so far, @mdecimus had managed to keep an awesome presence on the Matrix room, despite it not being announced anywhere as a community channel for support. As @hellekin remarked, "neither Discord nor Github are free software, and Matrix is our only way to reach out without having to rely on non-free software."
In any case, it would be useful to hand the existing Matrix room to people there who are motivated to keep the discussion and community support and self-help running on Matrix, even if that means making it officially unofficial.
