Describe your project. What problem does it solve? What's the use case?

meteor is a package for computing crystallographic isomorphous difference maps

the project aims to:

1. maximize signal to noise
2. be objective and reproducible (minimize user choice & bias)
3. be easy to use

Aim 1 is met using structure factor amplitude weighting (e.g. k-weighting, existing art) and TV denoising (new in the context of crystallography). Aims 2 and 3 are met through automatically setting parameters using negentropy maximization.

Why does this project belong on the Reciprocal Space Station?

Computing difference maps and extrapolated maps are essential tasks in ligand-finding and time-resolved crystallography. This task is solidly between the detector and final model and therefore falls into RSS's remit.

Thank you for your request to migrate meteor into the rs-station org. I would be delighted to sponsor you. In my estimation, this project aligns well with the rs-station mission. I proceed by forking the meteor main branch into the org. After which, I will grant maintenance privileges to the named developers.
