Mine is a i3-7100u, so from 2016. No issue whatsoever. Buttery smooth, no lag. Linux desktops tend to be light, and this environment is on the light end. |

Thank you! Comparing the CPU specs, their very evenly matched CPUs. Before I contributed I wanted to make sure it worked. Decided to try it out without contributing yesterday. Worked well enough. When researching on the web I like to right click and open in a new tab as a way to come back to things without finding it again. Couldn’t find a way to do it on Elementary OS like I can on Mac OS 15.2 by just enabling right click in the mouse settings. So in the meantime I moved on to Linux Mint to see what works for me without doing OS modifications(new to Linux world). So far Mint is much faster to use than Elementary OS on this old hardware. Have a great day! |

Looking at the minimum system requirements. They used the words "recent i3 processor". Recent can be subjective. Is a 5th generation i5-5200u processor fall in their definition of "recent"
i5-5200u specs: 3 MB of L3 cache. 2.2 GHz, boost up to 2.7 GHz, 2 cores and 4 threads
Thank you for your time,
Duane
