This is handy for development especially with vitacompanion. I'm not sure that it should be merged though as not everyone wants to have the IP address in the bar. I'm putting my changes here however so that other developers can use them if they need it.
Might want to look into 1b98789 however as it does some refactoring that makes it easier to add extra information.
