nlkain-2.0 (2013/6/1):
o added a C++ implementation that is compatible with Trilinos (tested with

o Added a modern, object-oriented Fortran (2008) version.
o The interfaces to the C, Fortran 95, and Fortran 2008 versions were
harmonized.

nlkain-1.3 (2009/7/4):
o Added a C implementation of the accelerator that is closely modeled after

o Name changes: package fpa renamed nlkain, module fixed_point_accelerator
renamed nonlinear_krylov_accelerator, and object prefix "fpa_" replaced
by "nka_". The old terminology was a bit arcane, and the new is consistent
with Miller's terminology for the accelerator.
o Modified the interface to NKA_CREATE to take the vector size as an argument
in place of a sample vector from which the size would have been gleaned.

fpa-1.1.1 (2004/12/22):
o Fixed a bug in fpa_defined introduced in 1.0.0 which would cause a spurious
false result due to over-aggressive checking.
fpa-1.1.0 (2004/12/18):
o Fixed a problem reported by Dave Korzekwa at LANL in which fpa_correction
does a divide-by-zero if passed the same function value (in his case 0) on
consecutive calls. If this happens, something has gone badly wrong with
the user's outer iteration that is calling fpa_correction, but we don't want
fpa_correction to crash in any case.
o Added a new procedure fpa_relax which enables the subspace accumulated in
one nonlinear solve to be carried over into another nonlinear solve.
o Added a new procedure fpa_defined which thoroughly examines the internal
structure of fpa_state for consistency. It is only intended to be used
in debugging situations.
fpa-1.0.0 (2004/02/18):
o This is the initial CVS version of the code, and is based on the 1996
version, with the following changes:
- A few MFE-code specific couplings were eliminated.
- Vectors stored as rank-2 arrays (natural in the MFE context) have been
replaced by rank-1 arrays, which is more typical of actual usage.
- All the data describing the state of the acceleration procedure has been
encapsulated into a derived type that is now passed to the procedures,
permitting multiple acceleration processes to be active simultaneously.
The original version stored the state as module data, which limited the
procedure to a single instance.
- More code comments.
o Code released under the extremely permissive MIT license.
o Included is a test code that demonstrates the usage of the accelerator
by solving a nonlinear elliptic equation on a regular 2D grid.
Early, pre-CVS History:
o The acceleration procedure was originally implemented in a Fortran 77 code
circa 1990, and used in the gradient-weighted moving finite element codes
of Carlson and Miller. Their 1998 SISC papers, which describe these MFE
codes, also includes a description of the acceleration procedure.
o The code was reimplemented in Fortran 90 about 1995 as part of a new suite
of moving finite element codes. The latest version is dated 1996/06/15.
