env variable on controllers

Could you please detail the below doubt about env for me?

From the discussion, say I have a controller for AppDocs model where I create or update the records, I would assign the value to updatedBy attribute which would be id of the logged-in user. I believe, I can get that user id from env.req.session.user.id as I saw in your code. Correct me if I am wrong.

For example, in delete-user.js controller, you have used the same env to get the id of the user but we don't pass that expliciitly. So, how does it get propogated to the controller?

But when I try to access it from env.req.session.user.id, it gives me undefined. Since it's not a standard Sails variable, I presume its an custom one added by you for this app.
Could you please point me where exactly in the code does the details of user gets stored in that env and how does it get passed to the controller?

Sorry, I figured it's set in isLoggedIn.js policy.

The reason I was getting undefined is that I forgot to configure my controller in config/policies.js.
