Cinnamon 5.4 breaks window boarders and titlebars #38
Comments
Hey Jackson, I'm using a fully updated rolling release Arch Linux with
cinnamon installed through the package manager. I don't really know what
having open shot installed or not has to do with anything?

Hi, are you running Openshot as an appimage, or installed by a package
manager? Also what OS/Distro and version were you using when this happened?

@link12765 This project has been dormant for 4 years now. |
Yeah? I'm assuming that's because it just worked up until now. This is the best XP theme out there and it would be a shame if it was left borked because of a cinnamon update. |
Seems to be because the themes still use If you want a metacity theme that matches, you can try Windows-XP |
Again, like I said before, this is the only theme that actually looks
exactly like XP, the theme you suggested still is a bit off. Does anyone
know if this could be updated or how one would go about doing it
themselves?

@link12765 Sorry! I forgot I followed this repo! I'm a maintainer of Openshot, and didn't notice this notification came from a different repo. |
You can use this GTK theme with the B00merang Metacity theme. |
Metacity theme support is no more in Cinnamon - the code for using Metacity themes was entirely removed, essentially, thus the titlebars are now styled using the same method as GNOME. That's why you're seeing this issue - it's a Mint-intended CinnXP-breaking change mentioned on Mint 21's changelog. |
Any chance someone who knows what they're doing can update this theme for Mint 21? This is/was the best XP theme. |
Please. |
ndwarshuis abandoned this theme (and the Cinnamon desktop) years ago. The project in its current state is breaking for that reason. It's dead, Jim. |
The latest update for cinnamon 5.4 is no longer allowing the window boarders and titlebars to draw correctly.
