Python API for accessing FPP model?

Hello,
I looked around for a bit but couldn't find any info on this. How can I access the FPP model from a Python script? I'd like to be able to traverse the topology programmatically.

Can you do it with the JSON outputs of fpp-to-json? That'll output a fpp-ast.json and fpp-analysis.json, the one you want is probably fpp-ast.json which is a JSON encoding of the inputted FPP files.

We are fixing this issue in the current FPP release cycle.

As a workaround in the mean time, you can build fpp-to-json as described here

https://github.com/nasa/fpp/tree/main/compiler#readme

and run the JVM version of fpp-to-json. The native image build is what crashes.

Thanks for the info. Is there an easy way to pass in all of my fpp files to fpp-to-json?

@zimri-leisher in CI here's what we do:

cd MyDeployment/Top
DEPENDENCIES=$(fpp-depend ../build-fprime-automatic-native/locs.fpp *.fpp)
fpp-to-json ${DEPENDENCIES} *.fpp

If there is a need for users, we may want to add fprime-util fpp-to-json to handle this

It's kind of a power-user thing, so might not be necessary to add to fprime-util.
