An Act to amend the Endangered Species (Control of International Trade and Traffic) Act, Cap E9, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to review the fines upwards in order to have a more deterrent effect and reflect the economic realities; and for related matters.

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria—
Amendment of Cap. E9 LFN, 2004
- The Endangered Species (Control of International Trade and Traffic) Act, Cap. E9, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (in this ct referred to as “the Principal Act”) is amended as set out in this Act.
Amendment of section 1
- Section 1 (1) and (2) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words “as from the commencement of this Act”, in line 1.
Amendment of section 5 (1) (a)
- Section 5 (1) (a) of the Principal Act is amended, by substituting for the expression, “N1,000” in line 2, the expression, “N5,000,000”
Amendment of section 5 (1) (b)
- Section 5 (1) (b) of the Principal Act is amended, by substituting for the expression “N500” in line 2, the expression, “N1,000,000”.
Citation.
- This Act may be cited as the Endangered Species (Control of International Trade and Traffic) (Amendment) Act, 2016.
