Driving Lane Reconfiguration is a Longitudinal Reconfiguration, Lateral Reconfiguration or Internal Reconfiguration
These are the three known cases where Driving Lanes are initiated, terminated or both. We can think of this in terms of where traffic can flow out of or within a Road Segment. It covers internal flow (Split, Merge, Fork, Convergence), longitudinal flow (Intersection) and lateral (mid segment Turn Lane). Two dimensional geometry seems to constrain us to these possibilities.
