Customization

The customizer is a WordPress screen in which you can change settings, which are mostly layout related. The changes in these settings are immediately visible. Linden adds a couple of additional customizer fields.

Usually, you find your customizer on http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/customize.php. Obviously, swap yourdomain.com for your own domain.

Customizer Settings

So what kind of settings are added to the customizer by the Velocity theme?

  • Under Identity, options for a logo and a transparent logo can be set-up.
  • Under Theme Layout, you can change layout settings for the header, for posts and post archives, for projects and project archives, for 404 pages and for the footer.
  • Under Theme Colors, the colours of backgrounds, general colours, header colours, content colours and footer colours can be changed.
  • Under Typography, the typography for almost any section of the website can be changed.
  • Under Social Media, social media channels can be added.

Adding new customizer fields

As a developer, you can also manually add new customizer fields using the 'velocity_configurations' WordPress filter. More information can be found on the Filter and Action Hooks Wiki page.
