##Open Company Firstly, HabitRPG is being developed as an "open company", meaning if you contribute to the project you get a slice of the pie. So this page should interest you if you are a developer, designer, legalist, writer, marketer, or any other specialist who can contribute. See GitHub Royalties for the details, but note that it'll be a long while (we need to finish Habit first) before we can get to divvy-percentage calculations and managing funds distributions - it's a project for the future. It will happen one way or another, even if it has to come from my own portion of Habit's revenue, and not the whole pot.

##Business Model

###1) Personal Account (free) Digital items which can be purchased with tokens.

  • Tabards, eggs & food (pet system), stirrups (mount system), weapon & armor enchantments, etc. There will be a huge amount to allow avatar customization; and because you'll be in parties, this will make your character stand out as unique. Unlike weapons/armor which are purchased with gold, you won't lose these items on death.
  • Emergency items, such as a full-heal potion and re-roll, in case you're "so cose to leveling!" and "so close to dying!" at the same time. These can be purchased with tokens as well. (If you're that "on the verge" you'll probably cheat anyway, so this might be abandoned).

###2) Manager Account HabitRPG for schools, businesses, etc. Enterprises that want an intranet productivity tool for their teams; teachers that want friendly competition in their classrooms; special education instructors gamifying IEPs. The main difference from the free account is that here a single account manages multiple avatars, allowing infinite party sizes and one party leader managing the party members' tasks, rather than the individuals managing their own. Eg, a teacher would decide when a student has completed "Turn in homework assignment #3" - this prevents cheating (which isn't an issue for personal accounts), as well as providing a management console for an entire team.

###3) Enterprise We will install & customize Habit to an company's internal servers, and tying into their productivity applications. Allows for greater security, white-label customizations, re-skinning (where RPG is a bit too unprofessional), etc.

##"Count me in!" So how do you contribute? If it's assets (code, design, legal, documentation) - then my recommendation is this. Find a Github issue that has a lot of discussion, and just do it. Clone the repo, set it up locally, add the feature or fix the bug, then send me a pull request.

If you want to be part of the "official" team, see this page.

###Web Developers You are desperately needed! Critical bugs, please :) Take any from that list you think you can tackle. Once that list is cleared we'll moved to new & fun features, triaged in the Trello board. The project is written in DerbyJS (Node.js, MongoDB, Socket.IO, and something akin to Angular). Read the tutorial here to catch up on the deets, it's a quick-ish read.

###Mobile Developers If you have mobile chops (we're using PhoneGap and AngularJS), clone our repository and take a stab at any unassigned features you think you could tackle in the Trello board. Tomaz @litenull has been single-handing our mobile app development, so jump into the #habitrpg IRC channel (freenode.net) and ping him with "Hey, anything I can help out with?".

###Designers If you see improvements to be had in CSS, HTML, image/sprites -stuff - send me a pull request.

###Pixel Artists Chime in on this discussion for getting involved as a pixel artist (@Pandoro and @Shaners are in charge). Also check out the "BrowserQuest" section of the FAQ.

###Writers Our original need was getting the word out to blog sites (eg Lifehacker). Now that we tipped our Kickstarter, we're going to put that on hold until we have major stability and monetization strategies. Then we'll do a second wind of guest-posting, in which case y'all will be direly needed!

In the meantime, we could use:

  • Updates to the homepage copy (what's there is very placeholder).
  • Tutorials
  • Anything else you can think of that's lacking re: copy / info in the ecosystem of HabitRPG (suggestions sorely needed!)

###Legal Email me, I need you :)
