Operating system

Linux

Joplin version

3.2.11

Desktop version info

Joplin 3.2.11 (prod, linux)

Client ID: 87aa8560cf14413aa2faa7c148edacf7
Sync Version: 3
Profile Version: 47
Keychain Supported: No

Revision: 2fba101

Backup: 1.4.2
Conflict Resolution: 1.2.3
Freehand Drawing: 2.14.0

Current behaviour

Recently, I updated Joplin and when I attached files, I found that the file extension had been changed to .zip, As shown in the following figure:

Image

This prevents me from opening the attached file correctly in Joplin.

For the convenience of reproducing the issue, I uploaded file test.eddx for testing purposes. Since github does not allow .eddx, I rename this file to test.txt.

The .eddx is the format of EdrawMax(a software used for drawing, similar to Visio and draw.io)

test.txt

Some additional test:

  1. Some common file types, such as .docx, .pptx, .pdf is ok.
  2. Windows with joplin 3.2.12 also has the same issue.
  3. I create a file named 1.abc, and joplin keep the suffix .abc unchanged.

I am very confused why the issue only occurs on certain types of files.

Expected behaviour

Keep the suffixes of attached files unchanged, as done in previous versions of Joplin
