What chip is installed inside the battery?

Is there a definite way to find out which chip is installed inside the battery without disassembling the battery?
In some models, I can send 0x0001 to address 0x00, and then read it. The A2168 chip will return the value 0x21 and 0x68.
Some batteries on the Chinese SH366000 chip return a value 0x8C and 0xA0, or 0x8E and 0xA0 which translated into decimal value will be 36000 or 36512.
But more often than not, the battery returns what I cannot interpret. e.g. 0x04 and 0x00
