Remapping mouse button supported or not?

Is remapping mouse buttons supported? I tried the following:

(defsrc mlft)

(deflayer base (multi alt mlft))

With

kanata -t --cfg /home/ru/.kanata.kbd

But it doesn't look like mouse events are being registered.

Inferring from binary name and path style, I'm assuming you're on Linux?

You need to explicitly specify which mouse to grab in order to accomplish this:
