How do I both assign a key to another key and run a command?

I would like to assign both a key and a command to a keyboard key.

E.g. let's say I want the letter a to both type a and then run cmd bash -c "echo hello world".

With the following I can assign the command to a key:

(defalias
  cm2 (cmd bash -c "echo hello world")
)

But how do I also make the key type the letter? Thanks
