Is there a preset for Brother DK-22205?
If not, I might create one, but I don't know how yet, help would be appreciated.

Exactly the same issue here, looking for a preset/template as well...

This link seems broken?

No idea if the link ever worked, maybe I'm just too stupid to link a file on Github. Just search for it by the name and you'll find it instantly.

But there is no template for DK22205

@G-Pereira Do you know what is needed to use these endless label rolls based on the roll DK22205 you mentioned?

@xtiang7c0 Yes, you need to select the 62mm page size in the settings of your system or in cups directly. Then you have to make sure you are trying to print something that is 62mm in one of the directions.

Which specific issue are you having?

@G-Pereira Thanks a lot. I do have a Brother QL 820NWB which I did install with the driver from Brother. The label I use is called DK22223 and 50mm wide on and endless label roll. I would like to add this the correct way to glabel. I tried it via the Product Template Designer but when it sends the Test Label I get an error on the printer saying the wrong roll type has been chosen. I'm not sure which of the measurements I should use to make it a working label template.

Found this in templates which looks like the code for a continuous roll, but I don't know how to add a changed version of this ass the appimage does not have a folder structure that I can go into?

Getting an error trying to use the existing DK-2205 template, it seems that creating these yourself is not yet possible.

DK1201 worked right away. I had some laying around and could test them successfully.

That seems like you have everything correct at glabels side.

In your printer configuration on your system settings you must choose the label type you have loaded. If you try to print a label 50mm wide with your printer config set to 62mm (for example) the printer will give an error (mine blinks red).

Let me know if you got what I mean otherwise I can send you a screenshot when I get home later today

Thank you @G-Pereira. I think the issue is, that I can't set up a fitting template as

  1. I can't create one in the template designer and
  2. I can't add it to the template xml manually as I don't know how to add the information even if I have it.

Did you create a template so far just with adding it to one of the xml files?

Thanks

No, I've created one in the user interface.
You must create a template with the size of the label you want. Even though your roll is "endless" the label will have a predetermined size in which it will be cut.
Then I would create a template with the dimensions you want and one of the sides has to be the width of your roll.

@xtiang7c0 you got it running? :)

I tried that, but in the XML template I linked you can see how a continuous roll is completely different as template as the others. I might try again.

@G-Pereira Sadly no success, you can see how different the continuous roll is built in the one in the xml.

I tried to set one up myself but that gives the error. Maybe I don't have the super correct values as when picking a DK-1201 which works with the original labels I tried there has a size of 28.96 x 89.83 mm which is smaller than the 29 x 90 mm you choose in the printer.

image

Not sure.

The continuous roll looks different as well in the porperty view

I would refrain from editing the xml files directly since that can leave you with a config that isn't supported or currently in experimental support.

Once I get home i'll send you a screenshot of my (working) config

I see the roll type is completely different but if that isn't working for you try not to use it at first, then you can move to it. I would also be interested in it later on to make label design more flexible. But for now a fixed size on the template has worked very well for me.

See here my template for a DK22205 which is an "endless" 62mm wide label:

I've been looking at the Roll option while creating a template and I see no useful advantage in configuring it that way since you also have to specify which is the size of a single label you want to print. No point in setting it to roll if it is giving issues.

It doesn't even let you have more than 999 mm roll length... I know you can input whatever you want in the XML file but then you have no idea if you are not overflowing a buffer in the code.

Thank you @G-Pereira

I tried to set it up again like you did and changed the roll type in the printer driver. I tried to change it in the print dialog as well, but it always goes back to the default setting (it did that with the 29x90mm labels as well that worked though). There error with "wrong roll type" persists.

Edit: tried it with page size "other" like you as well, but still the same error.

@xtiang7c0 Sorry for not answering your long and careful description of the steps you tried. I didn't reply because I have no idea of what you can try next. That version is very buggy and abandoned. Although I also enjoy using the latest and more optimized versions of every software I use, with this one in particular I was forced to go back to the ugly old version. It sucks but gets our life going.
