Python issues GitHub bash on Windows

Apologies if this is a dumb question.

I have been trying to run the setup.sh via GitBash via Windows. But running into issues.

The error states

"Python was not found; run without arguments to install from the Microsoft Store, or disable this shortcut from Settings > Manage App Execution Aliases."

I have Python installed and can run a basic python script from the same directory.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated

Hey Jason, thanks for the advice. I have progressed my installation. I came across another issue that I couldn't figure out. There was an error on the compose.env but can't figure out why. I've added two screenshots. Screenshow#3 is to confirm I can access the Powerwall locally from my PC

Connectivity is not your issue. This is a Windows related issue:

I'm not a Windows expert, but I understand that it uses "\r\n" instead of "\n" to signal end of line for text files (something that came form the DOS days). For that reason, Windows tools will often convert "\n" to "\r\n" when you download. However, in WSL, you are running Linux so it expects only "\n". The error you got seems to indicate that you did part of the download or setup in Windows before moving to WSL.

You could fix it by editing compose.env and removing the extra \r characters, but to be safe, I would recommend deleting the "Powerwall-Dashboard" folder and start over from scratch using just the WSL shell only:

All from inside WSL:

cd /mnt/c/dev

# Remove the existing installation
rm -fr Powerwall-Dashboard

# Rebuild from scratch
git clone https://github.com/jasonacox/Powerwall-Dashboard.git
cd Powerwall-Dashboard
./setup.sh

Hopefully that would remove any odd translation that the Windows shell did to those files before you went to WSL.

Hey Jason, it worked. I ran the whole project via a Ubuntu virtual machine. Looks great thanks for all your help :-)
