Feature description

Hi isontheline,

I´m considering to by WebSSH pro app from the apple store for my iphone. But I need one specific feature. I will try to describe expected result.
I need to synchronize some data between my PC(windows os) and other device e.g my iphone(iOS). For this purpose I use cloud storage(service provider strato). The data from my PC I encrypt and upload with WINSCP. I already tried WebSSH to connect to the cloud storage by using private key(generated by WINSCP/Putty). This works great! However after connecting to the cloud the files and folders remains encrypted. Is it possible to implement a feature into webssh app which could decrypt the files and folders which were initially encyprted by WINSCP?

Kind regards
emis

Hi emis 👋

Thanks for reaching me!

Could you point me to any doc of WinSCP feature about encryption?
I wasn’t aware that WinSCP could do that.

Have a nice day ☀️

Hello Arnaud,

for file encryption I followed this WINSCP user guide https://winscp.net/eng/docs/file_encryption

Hello emis 👋

Thank you a lot for the documentation!

As you may know that my roadmap is already full, can I only implement decryption and not the encryption?

I don’t know when I can work on it but your idea seems awesome!

Kind regards,

Hi Arnaud,

If you would implement the decryption only this would be sufficient for me right now . Currently I synchronize only unidirectional PC --> external device. If you would implement the encryption as well this would be great and would allow bidirectional synchronization. However a bidirectional synchronization is not mandatory for me for now. The ability to decrypt data which was encrypted by WINSCP would also mean that your app offers a desired feature which your competitors do not. I think this would be an important special characteristic of your app and motivation for a lot of customers to purchase a useful tool for secure data synchronization.
As soon as decryption feature is available on WebSSH Pro I would immediately visit Apple App Store to buy it :) Hence please let me know when you manged to implement decryption.

Kind regards
emis
