screen doesn't find terminfo

I have installed ghostty on my Mac. When I ssh'd to remote linux, I found my keys were repeated. I asked the question and as suggested I followed this help article to copy the terminfo to my remote and it worked.

Now, on remote when I tried screen it again complains.

Cannot find terminfo entry for 'xterm-ghostty'.

I checked this SO thread and following that when I checked ls /usr/share/terminfo/x I didn't find xterm-ghostty there. However, when I run echo $TERM, it returns xterm-ghostty

So, how do I set this terminfo system wide so that everything screen can find this.

I see the terminfo is copied in my ~/.terminfo. I see there is ~/.terminfo/x/xterm-ghostty and ~/.terminfo/g/ghostty. I tried calling screen with TERMINFO like TERMINFO=~/.terminfo/ screen as suggested in that SO post but still same error.

I see the help article talks about if TERMINFO is not set it will copy to home. Now, I need to set TERMINFO on remote.

I tried passing TERMINFO in ssh command. I tried running the tic command on remote, nothing worked.

screen is at fault here if it cant find local terminfo

but you can copy it to the directory for global use with tic -d

I tried this but didn't work. There is no -d option for my tic on linux, looking at help it seems -o instead is the right option for my version of tic -o<dir> set output directory for compiled entry writes

When I tried this I get these errors and it was not copied to /usr/share/terminfo

So, when nothing else worked I just created a symlink in /usr/share/terminfo and that worked.

> sudo ln -s ~/.terminfo/x/xterm-ghostty /usr/share/terminfo/x
> screen

>  infocmp -x | sudo tic -o /usr/share/terminfo-x -

Put a space in between /usr/share/terminfo and -x.
