macOS input source "Unicode Hex Input" not working in Ghostty v1.0.1 #5306
-
Tested on macOS 15.2 Sequoia, with zsh as the shell. First, under system preferences, input sources, enable "Unicode Hex Input" (listed under "Other" at the bottom of the list by language). This works in the Apple Terminal:
However, in Ghostty at step 9 nothing happens. You can see in the inspector that all the key press events triggered though (the second left_alt release seem to happen when I clicked away to take the screenshot): If this worked, it may enable remapping keys to send any unicode character, even emoji 🚀 like whose hex code is D83D DE80, needing nine button presses! |

Follow up - at step 9, after the disappointment of no hiragana appearing, when I type another character (e.g. quote, or letter f), then get a long run of that letter appearing! [The same happens in WezTerm] |

This works on tip releases, I believe this was resolved as part of the broader input method improvements coming in 1.1. |
