I’m not entirely sure if this is a Ghostty-specific problem. I’m using Bubble Tea, a TUI framework, where the escape event seems to have some kind of delay, whereas it works fine in Gnome default terminal.

It's likely due to the fact that the sequence that the escape key sends, \x1b, is the same sequence used to start control sequences (which are special codes you can send the terminal to get it to do things like move the cursor or ask for the current cursor position, the latter of which would result in the terminal sending back a control sequence with the response) when using the legacy encoding. TUIs usually have to work around it by having a small delay to differentiate between an escape key and control sequences. I'm not sure why it works fine in Gnome Console though.
