Weird rendering issue with *Operator Mono* font

Hi,

I have been using the Operator Mono font(Book variant) since 2016 and it work like a charm on iTerm2, Kitty, wezterm(with weight = "DemiBold" option) but with Ghostty i'm having a weird sharp rendering !

The 4 terminals(top left: Ghostty, top right: Kitty, bottom left: iTerm, bottom right: wezterm) screenshot:

I don't like setting the font-thicken option to true, it will make the font looks like bold(fake bold) but destroy the icons rendering :(

Maybe a font-weight option(e.g. font-weight = "SemiBold") or a font-thicken with percent(e.g. font-thicken = 10%) would solve this rendering issue :)

This already exists, font-style.

I have tried font-style = bold and font-style = semi bold and it doesn't fix the issue, it just make the rendering weirder

The only workaround that i found is to use the Light variant with font-thicken = true, it fixes the font rendering but ruin the icons 😕
Hope that font-thicken issue will be resolved soon 🙏

There's a new option called font-thicken-strength that was recently added on tip (see #4531). As for the screenshot comparisons you posted here #5210 (reply in thread), it looks like you're not comparing the same fonts? It looks like ghostty is using JetBrains Mono.
Can you post your config and confirm that you're setting font-style according to the output of ghostty +list-fonts? For example, to list the stylistic variants of JetBrains Mono, you could run ghostty +list-fonts --family="JetBrains Mono". The style is the part after the family name.

It's the "Book" variant rendering on Ghostty compared to other terminal emulators, using the font-style will just force the variant(like Light or Medium) but will not fix the Book variant itself

You can if you use the tip release channel :P (I get not wanting to use nightly builds though)

Yep, only on Ghostty, it works on all other terminals(+VSCode) !
