^[ causes ZSH to clear line, which does not happen in Wezterm, etc.

On other terminals (only tried wezterm), hitting the ANSII sequence for Escape, ^[, works like hitting the normal Escape key on the keyboard. Specifically, when in viins mode in ZSH, it swaps to vicmd as expected.

In ghostty, ^[ behaves differently from the Escape key, in that the entire line is deleted when hitting ^[ in ZSH, when in viins mode.

Are others seeing the same? Any way to fix it?

I experience this too. Doesn't happen when I'm inside a tmux session but only with native ghostty.

It works fine when I haven't typed anything. Say I Ctrl+P and there's something on the prompt now, I can use ^[ and it works as expected. But if I type something and accept auto-completion, ^[ now clears the line.

Same here. This difference between ctl+[ and the Escape key is not happened with zsh on iTerm2, bash on Ghostty, and zsh on tmux on Ghostty. Only zsh on Ghostty happens.

My workaround is keybind = ctrl+left_bracket=text:\x1b.
