error: unable to connect to server: ConnectionTimedOut

I'm on ubuntu 24.04.01

Trying to build from source. I cloned the repo, and when i run zig build -Doptimize=ReleaseFast I get this error:

when building with Nix, i get

./result/bin/ghostty: error while loading shared libraries: __vdso_gettimeofday: invalid mode for dlopen(): Invalid argument

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Nix on distros like Ubuntu or Debian might not work, #3684 (comment).

For the other links: does going to that from a browser work? If so, just try again: it's a known Zig issue where it doesn't retry on spurious network issues.
