This tool facilitates the detection of possible data errors and can be used to clean and standardize datasets indexed by Species Link.
Here is an example validation report for dataset 'ALCB' (screenshot also shown below). The validation report shows the suspect fields organized by taxonomy, locality, date, location, etc. It is possible to open the suspect records within the browser for convenient review.
A notable feature, is a statistics page, showing how the data has changed over time (screenshot also shown below). These charts can provide quick visual evidence that data is being actively curated.
Surely this tool can provide some inspiration in terms of new features that can be added to the GBIF Validator and how the validator results get presented in the user interface.
The Data Cleaning Tool appears to be a recent addition to the suite of Species Link tools.
