This is just a note that this was discussed a few years ago in this thread: https://mikro.naprvyraz.sk/mint/201304/msg00042.html and then reminded by Eero a year later: https://mikro.naprvyraz.sk/mint/201405/msg00015.html so it shouldn't be forgotten.

The nanosleep patch made it trough but gettimeofday is remains a performance killer.
