per default respondd accept requests on any interfaces (like mesh0, wlan0, eth0, enp1s0, tun0, ...)

examples with problems:

nodes with uplink (vpn -> gateway with ext-respondd)
nodes with backbone (direkt link -> backbone with ext-respondd)
nodes on x86 with ext-respondd
