Unclear why connection with Twitter is being made

When you click on "Join the herd", you get taken to a Twitter OATH screen asking for access to your timeline and followers. Except at no point it is made clear that this is done to create a user account, that Twitter is the only way to create a user account and that you need to use your Twitter account to login.

It does have the little twitter icon next to the "Join the herd", but that doesn't actual say all this.
