When adding back faulty ETCD member

I wish to seek clarification

I had an 3 etcd node that is running together. Previously one of them had an hardware failure. Hence II follow this guide

To remove it from the clusters as well as to add a temporary node into the cluster so I still had a quorum

Now that the node is fixed. I would like to add it back to the etcd cluster. I am not sure should I

1. Remove the temporary node and add back the original etcd node as a learner into cluster
   or
2. Add the original etcd node as a learner into cluster and remove the temporary node

What is the best practice or recommendation ?
