Do some investigation on maybe using a dummy deskband and keeping a Wpf window on top of it. Then we can still use all the deskband features but not have to use an ElementHost to host the Wpf control.

After some investigation this doesn't work too well

  • The window does appear on top of the taskbar but it doesn't remain there. One instance where it can be put beneath the taskbar is when previewing windows (hovering over a taskbar icon)
  • Does not easily work with virtual desktops
