This page describes all the wiring layouts of the 5.1 preamplifier board. The diagram below shows all the areas connected via wires.

Wiring positions

AC input terminal

For this preamplifier, use a 230V to 2x6V (1A) step-down transformer.

PSU terminal

Audio input/output terminals

For all audio inputs and outputs, use a twin-core, audio-grade, screened PVC cable.

  • FRONT L/R
    • J6 - Front Left input
    • J7 - Front Right input
  • REAR L/R
    • J8 - Rear Left input
    • J9 - Rear Right input
  • CENTER/SUB
    • J10 - Center input
    • J11 - Subwoofer input

  • J12 (RL) - Rear Right output
  • J13 (RR) - Rear Left output
  • J14 (FR) - Front Right output
  • J15 (FL) - Front Left output
  • J16 (SB) - Subwoofer output
  • J17 (CE) - Center output

Audio output connections

HD44780 LCD terminal

The HD44780 based 2x16 character, blue/white LCD is the most suitable LCD for this preamplifier. The contrast of the LCD display can adjust using RV1 (50K) trimpot.

ICSP terminal

ICSP terminal is useful to upload firmware to the PIC16F886 microcontroller. This port and firmware upload process is described in the Firmware section of this documentation.
