Validations

  • I believe this is a way to improve. I'll try to join the Continue Discord for questions
  • I'm not able to find an open issue that requests the same enhancement

Problem

Hi guys, thanks for providing the amazing Continue! I didn't find my suggestion in the open issues or the code so here is my idea.

In my daily usage I find it not so useful to have autocomplete always enabled, most of the time it suggests code I don't need. Either because I'm just browsing or thinking about my next move. In both cases it messes up the code with the suggestion.

Solution

My suggestion is to be able to disable auto-autocomplete and trigger it manually with a keyboard shortcut (CTRL-SHIFT-SPACE or something like that, you know). Getting code suggestions when I need them, not when I might need them (knowing there is no good answer to what "might" means).

A very cool side effect is that it also helps saving the planet by generating tokens only when needed 🌱

I do like this, a little toggle button on the UI would be kinda nice.

For a current solution, you can always run ctrl/cmd + shift + p to open the VSCode command palette and then run the command: Continue: Toggle Autocomplete Enabled.
