PackageKit not installed

I have the package cockpit as part of my image. I have added this recipe,

meta-openembedded/meta-webserver/recipes-webadmin/cockpit/cockpit_220.bb

I have also included the packages in the conf file.

• cockpit-bridge \
• cockpit-ws \
• cockpit-desktop
  I can see the cockpit service up and running and am even able to access the web version. But I noticed this error in the Software Updates showing "Loading available updates failed" and also it shows Packagekit is not installed.
  Please let me know how to resolve this error.

Well, you need to install PackageKit for that. You can also install cockpit-packagekit to get a proper "Software Updates" page (that will install PackageKit as a dependency).

I already have the below files part of my image

Also I was not able to find the cockpit-packagekit part of yocto

Ah, yocto (you didn't mention this). So apparently you have the cockpit-packagekit files, but are missing PackageKit itself. (and there's obviously that dependency missing)

When I start the packagekit service, I am getting this error

PackageKit[3533]: uid 1000 failed to obtain auth

I am having the root privileges once I login the terminal(sudo su)
