1. Introduction.

This is an AmigaOS 3.x (m68k) port of rsync.
It is based on the MSDOS port of rsync v2.5.5 by Chris Simmonds: http://www.2net.co.uk/rsync.html
The work to bring this port to AmigaOS was done by Chris Jones <cmsj@tenshu.net>

2. Limitations.

rsync is a complex UNIX program that expects to be forking itself into multiple child processes,
which is almost completely impossible to do on AmigaOS in the same way that UNIX-like systems do it.

The DOS port on which this is based, replaced several core functions with new implementations that
do all of the work in a single process, making it suitable for porting to AmigaOS.

However, not all of rsync's features are able to be brought to this port (at least at the moment).
Some of these are because of limitations in AmigaOS, some are limitations of porting time/skill.
Please be aware:

  * Cannot run as a server daemon
  * Does not support transfer of file ownership/permissions
  * No support for rsh/ssh
  * No support for rsync:// URIs (use <server>::<module>/ instead)
  * No support for creating backup files
  * No support for symlinks
  * No support for sparse files
  * No support for include/exclude lists/patterns
  * No support for data compression
  * No support for bandwidth limits

3. Usage.

See all the normal documentation for rsync, no additional Amiga features have been added.

4. Building.

This port of rsync builds with ADE 2.95.3 (2015-02-01 from Aminet). I have included the configure
script and Makefile, so you don't need to fight with autoconf/automake

If you do recreate the Makefile with the configure script, be sure to run it with --disable-ipv6
(unless your Amiga TCP stack has IPv6 support and a matching SDK available)
