Is it possible to express subcommands in terms of an existing subcommand?

Consider the subcommand sha2. It takes an argument --bits which may take one of the following predefined values: 224, 256, 384 or 512.

Is it possible to define a subcommand for each of the variants above and arrive at sha224, sha256, sha384 and sha512 by defining them in terms of the sha2 command? E.g.

• sha224 == sha2 --bits=224
• sha256 == sha2 --bits=256
• ...

You can look at replace. But it has it's issues, #2011. We might end up changing it for the final v3 release.
