Can Zwift control speed and or inclination of my treadmill?
Zwift doesn't control the speed or the inclination of no treadmill.
BUT with QZ you can!
How?
Requirement: Your treadmill must have speed/inclination control on firmware. In order to do so, check with the QZ app if you can change the speed/inclination using the plus buttons on the speed/inclination tile
on Windows: just download the windows version of QZ and then, thanks to the OCR technology, QZ will adjust speed and incline based on your workout! Then you just need to enable the setting in QZ under the Zwift menu, to enable the right scenario (workout, free run, climb portal).
More info about the installation here: https://github.com/cagnulein/qdomyos-zwift/issues/1581#issuecomment-1660774335
on Android, iOS: you have to add your zwift credentials in the settings (requires QZ version 2.16.30) for auto inclination on free run. you have to use the meetup workaround (for QZ version < 2.16.30) for auto inclination on free run. Check this for more detail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTQ2n7yeDbo On workout, you need to load the ZWO file of the workout in QZ also, then QZ will set the speed and inclination!
only on Android with version 2.18.4 and above:
-
You must rename the device running QZ to "KICKR RUN" (exactly as it's written) This will vary from device to device so check your device instruction manual. If you do not change the name then Zwift will not enable the native incline feature.
-
Now run Zwift and under speed sensor search and select KICKR RUN
- After a few seconds a new pairing option appears called controllable. Again select KICKR RUN. A warning message will appear. OK this.
-
Continue to pair your cadence and HR. You will have your own way of doing this depending on what device you are using. This will be as you have always paired using QZ.
-
Once all paired go to Zwift settings and you will see you now have a Hardware option where you can turn on both incline and descent and always adjust the incline difficulty. Max will mean that the treadmill incline matches that on screen 100%
- Now go run. You will unlock the Wahoo Kickr Run kit and you will notice that when on an incline or descent a graph will appear in the HUD showing the gradient and your progress along it so you can judge your effort. If your treadmill works in whole percentage points it will not change until the gradient hit 1.0%, 2.0%. If the gradient is at say 1.7% then your treadmill will be at 1%. This may be different if your treadmill uses .5% increments.
